Message from ASA
Hello ASA Families! 💛🐾

I hope you all had a wonderful fall break and are excited for a great week back! We’re so glad that all the students who attended the Holiday Boutique were able to find some wonderful gifts for their families. It was such a fantastic event—thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make it happen!

We also want to share a friendly reminder: if you arrive after 8:00 AM, or if you know your student will not make it through the gate before the last bell, you must walk your student to the front office and sign them in—no exceptions. Please help us set a positive example for our students by following this procedure.
Additionally, if your student comes to school early for breakfast, we expect them to be eating. Students should only be on campus before the gates open if they are there to have breakfast.
Thank you for your continued support!

Warmly,
Ms. Holt

🌟 Social-Emotional Learning Focus of the Week: Attitude & Perception 🌟

This week, our Wolves are learning about attitude and perception — the ways our thoughts, beliefs, and interpretations shape how we experience the world. Students are exploring how a positive, curious mindset can help them approach challenges with resilience, understand others with empathy, and see opportunities instead of obstacles. When children recognize that they have the power to choose how they interpret situations, they gain confidence, emotional regulation skills, and stronger problem-solving abilities. Thi
We encourage you to continue this conversation at home! Here are a few reflection questions to spark meaningful dialogue during dinner, in the car, or before bedtime:
  • How does your attitude affect the way you handle challenges?
  • Can you think of a time when you changed your perspective and it helped you feel better or do better?
  • What is one way you can shift your thinking when something feels frustrating or disappointing?

🌈 Attitude & Perception Activities for Home

1. “Reframe the Moment” Practice (All Ages)
When something challenging happens, pause and ask, “What else might be true?” or “How can I look at this in a more helpful way?” This helps children build cognitive flexibility and emotional resilience.
2. Rose–Thorn–Bud Check-In (TK–6th, but helpful for all ages!)
Each person shares a rose (something good), a thorn (a challenge), and a bud (something they’re looking forward to). This helps children acknowledge both positive and difficult moments while staying hopeful and grounded.
3. Perspective Switch (All Ages)
Choose a situation—real or imaginary—and explore it from different viewpoints. “How might a friend see this?” “How might a teacher see this?” This exercise strengthens empathy and broadens understanding.
Practicing healthy attitudes and flexible thinking at home reinforces the SEL skills we’re building at school and supports our Wolves in becoming thoughtful, kind, and resilient learners.🐺💛

Tips for Reducing Test Stress

Testing time can bring nerves! Encourage your child to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and take deep breaths. Remind them that this is just one way to show what they’ve learned.
