🌟 Social-Emotional Learning Focus of the Week: Citizenship 🌟

This week, our Wolves are learning about citizenship — what it means to contribute positively to our school, community, and digital spaces. Students are exploring how responsible actions, kindness, honesty, and respect help create safe and supportive environments where everyone can learn and thrive. We’re also highlighting digital citizenship, teaching students how to stay safe online, communicate respectfully, think critically about what they see, and make responsible choices when using technology. 🌍💻💛
When children understand their role as citizens—both in person and online—they build a sense of belonging, responsibility, and integrity that empowers them to make positive contributions to their world.
Here are a few reflection questions to spark meaningful dialogue at home:
  • What does it mean to be a good citizen at school, at home, and in the community?
  • How can you show respect and responsibility when using technology or social media?
  • What choices can you make to help your classroom, your family, or your online spaces feel safe and welcoming for everyone?

🌈 Citizenship & Digital Citizenship Activities for Home (Updated)

1. Community Helper Challenge (All Ages)
Choose one small action your child can do this week to help the community at home or school—picking up trash, helping a sibling, writing a thank-you note, or showing kindness to a neighbor. Celebrate the impact these small acts can make.
2. “Pause & Think” Tech Check (TK–6th)
Before using a device, practice a quick check-in:
Is it safe? Is it kind? Is it responsible?
This simple habit builds digital awareness and encourages thoughtful online choices.
3. Family Tech Agreement (All Ages)
Create a short, shared agreement about healthy technology use—screen time boundaries, safe websites, kindness online, and asking for help when something feels uncomfortable. Doing this together encourages communication and shared responsibility.
4. Cell Phone Responsibility Contract (Upper Grades or Any Student With a Phone)Cell Phone Contract
Use the included Cell Phone Responsibility Contract to guide a family conversation about expectations, safety, and digital citizenship. This contract encourages students to practice responsibility, privacy awareness, respectful communication, and healthy boundaries when using their phone. Completing the contract together helps families align expectations and opens the door for ongoing communication around digital habits and safety.

Building strong citizenship skills—both in our communities and online—helps our Wolves become thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate leaders.🐺⭐💛
